More about The Pool House

The highlight of Minterne’s Pool House is, of course, the sizable swimming pool. Open every day between April and October, this outdoor heated pool sits just outside the property’s double patio doors, allowing you to gaze out over the calm blue water all day long. It’s the perfect place to cool off after a busy morning enjoying the local sights, sounds, and scents of Dorset’s natural surroundings.

Guests staying at The Pool House are invited to enjoy the pool throughout their stay. Exclusive private swimming hours for Pool House guests are available before 10:00 AM and after 4:00 PM, allowing other lettings to use the area during the day. For your convenience, all necessary pool towels are provided, so there’s no need to pack them in your suitcase

The rooms

The Pool House’s traditional winding staircase leads directly to a mezzanine-style bedroom, cosily set deep into the eaves. Perfect for two – plus a four-legged friend – the bedroom features a super-king-size bed and plenty of storage space for your bags. The historic leaded windows command excellent views of the pool and tennis courts as well as the stunning natural landscape of the local area.

Facilities and amenities

Stepping inside the Pool House feels like stepping inside the Tardis. With a cosy cottage aesthetic on the outside, the clever open plan design creates a very spacious and airy interior with plenty of room to relax and unwind. Fancy whipping up a delicious dinner during your stay? The open plan kitchen/diner features a gas hob and electric oven, alongside a microwave, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. Or, of course, you may wish to arrange for freshly prepared food from a brilliant local chef.

Just off the kitchen/diner is the sitting room, where you can make yourself comfortable and check out the latest programmes on the smart TV. And don’t forget to pack your favourite DVDs and records to play on the Pool House’s equipment, too. For quieter nights in, there’s a radio – and Amazon Alexa, who’s ready to play all your best-loved tunes for a truly unforgettable experience.

During the warmer months, why not fling open the double patio doors and enjoy the fresh summer breeze? Or if you’re visiting us over the cooler months, the wood-burning stove is the perfect place to snuggle up and enjoy a cosy, toasty warmth while gazing out at the wintery surroundings.

There’s one more area you’ll find on the ground floor of the Pool House, and that’s the wet room. With a WC, shower and basin, there’s everything you need to freshen up for the day ahead.

Outdoor space

When staying at the Pool House, you’ll enjoy your own private outdoor space right outside the property’s patio doors. The doors lead out to a beautiful terrace featuring outdoor furniture, a coal BBQ (with coal supplied for the duration of your stay), and a privacy screen for a more intimate atmosphere. Breakfast out on the terrace? What a fantastic way to start your day!

And don’t forget, every guest of Lord Digby’s is welcome to enjoy the stunning gardens here at Minterne. With 27 acres of Himalayan rhododendrons, azaleas, cherries, maples, winding pathways and ponds, the award-winning gardens are open every day between 10 am and 6 pm. You may also wish to enquire about taking a tour of Minterne House. Lord Digby loves to share the history of this fine country house with his guests, and show them around his beloved and historic nineteenth-century home.

Guests are required to bring their own towels for the swimming pool. Please kindly note, the pool is unsupervised, and children must be accompanied at all times.Find us on what3words: nerves.clasping.stands
